Festival of Light Writing Project

Organisation: Colmore Infant School

Aim: To engage parents in writing with children and shape a writing project around an existing celebration. To celebrate writing and make writing fun.

Summary: The school enjoyed a Diwali-themed Everybody Writes Day with plenty of colourful arts and crafts, in particular creating coloured paper lamps which parents and children wrote wishes on and then displayed them as part of a celebration with food and crafts. The children enjoyed writing with different tools and on varying surfaces as well as “re-signing” different areas of the school and enjoying a writing treasure hunt.
