Aim: The aim of Headliners, a registered charity, is to bring the voice of young people to a wide audience and through our work with young people have a long term impact on:

  • confidence and self-esteem
  • literacy and academic performance
  • leadership and ability to work in teams
  • oral and written communication skills
  • social skills and independence
  • expectations of future prospects

Summary: Headliners recruit young aspiring journalists aged between 8 and 19 in disadvantaged inner city areas and teaches them to research and write about topics which affect them.

Headliners thrives on diversity, successfully bringing together young from all backgrounds and welcoming young people with all abilities. Full details and reports are available on the website which includes a teachers’ section offering suggestions for using youth journalism in the classroom.
