Exploring writing beyond the classroom

What’s new in September 2010

This month we are pleased to feature some new film-making tips for those of you who are thinking about making a film to document your writing project or as a final product: for inspiration, see what other schools have done. You might also like to read about Brookvale Primary School’s Who Are We? Project, which used writing to explore children’s identity. Alternatively, have a look at Pardes House Primary School’s excellent Space Writing project for some ideas about how to engage boys.

There’s still time to enter your pupils in the Usborne Young Writers Award, and the secondary teachers among you might be interested in our recent blog post around digital literature – lots of ideas for using it in the classroom. And primary pupils don’t have to miss out on digital fun – have a look at Booktrust’s Booktime Fantastic First Poems page and play the poetry games with your class.
