Active writing day
Macaulay Church of England Primary School in Clapham, London, devoted a whole day to get all pupils out of the classroom, into the playground and actively writing.
Pupils discovered lines of verse hanging from trees, they pieced together a story told across the playground, they wrote letters to the ants and wrote enormous poems on the walls of the playground.
Pupils chased and traced language; they wrote and were written to.
